Do you have an old NCR you would like more info on?
If you send me some info by e-mail, I can give you some tips or a quick estimate on your brass or wooden machine. (Please remember I do not know much about later style registers.)
I need to know
- Model#,
- Serial#,
- finish, special features (top sign?),
- condition of case, drawer and operation,
- plus information from label under drawer etc.
- OR (preferred) if you want the full Monte… I can do a more formal appraisal including a complete description of what you have,
I can suggest how much insurance (replacement value), and what you could expect to sell it for.
To help you, I will need photos (jpg format) of overall front, side, back and with lid and drawer open. I will charge a nominal service fee of $24.
Plus I can give some tips on the options for selling and the pro’s and con’s of each. I will reply via email with an attached Microsoft Word file with your photo included. Unless you specify another format.
Usually I can reply within two weeks. OR (much faster) I can do a telephone appraisal and call you and tell you about your register and answer your questions.
Please use PayPal service to send payment.
We can do business via US Post Office (snail mail) if you wish or need to send regular photos.
All Checks must include your email address for proper credit.

Do you know where i can get a National Cash Register model 180 repair near Mackinaw, Illinois
I just purchased a model 942. It is super clean but the crank handle is jammed and the drawer was removed. The clerk and money buttons were pushed. I put the drawer back in and the crank handle is still jammed. What do I need to do to relieve pressure on the crank handle and complete the process.
Thank you,
William Brown
My name is James and our business has a 1000 series National Register and the old dear is needing some repair work. Do you have any listing’s of people who still service these machines and may have a connection to parts.
Hello, I am from Romania and have in my collection 5 NCR machines. Some of them have on the serial number plate the model and then followed by X. One example 761034 (serial number) 452X (model), what does the X stand from? I tried to research and could not find.
Thank you.
We have a NCR model 356 made in 1911 for a company in Saint Paul MN. We are cleaning this machine and are trying to find it original color. My father says it had a color code C but we don’t know what the means. We know it’s red brass but looks like the only part that was polished was the outside edge. He says there is a coating on the finish of the register that seems factory since it doesn’t really come off. Would you happen to know if this was factory or was the entire register polished.?
This page will guide you about the codes for the finishes and options like this.

I have an old National Cash Register that I would like to sell. It has serial numbers/model numbers as follows…1415375W, 442-E-L, Class 400, signed “C”, tracer 12258. A label indicates that it was sold by A. C. MacMahon. It was sold to the Moir Hotel Company in Chicago on May 29, 1914. It’s in very good shape. Everything works except the double tape mechanism which seems to have one rubber roller missing. Thanks for any help I can get!
Still for sale?

Hi there!
Your website has been very helpful! I was wondering if you know of anyone in the Boston area that does NCR restorations. I am really only looking for a partial resto as I like the patina and cracked marble. I really just want everything lubricated so it works smoothly again. A re-paint on my flags might also be in order.
Thanks!
Can you tell me if the glass from 711 will fit 311? Thank you so much for your time!

Do you repair the registers NY/NJ Area? Model # 1310971 1064-G
Thank you in advance for your response
I have a NCR Model 39 produced in 1894. It is Brass with a finish code E, (so solid brass casting highly polished and lacquered) but very dull or dirty in appearance. Chicken scratch design with wide scroll. 35 principal total adder. missing top sign.
My question, we have it partially disassembled to figure out why it does not function. Is there a way or procedure to try polish it up or refinish? Or would we be hurting the value if we try to clean it up. I’m not sure if polishing it would hurt the lacquer.
Any other suggestions on restoration tips or places to look? Do you sell any videos?
I have a NCR register model #126(2)-x that I need a key for. Do you have one? If so, please email me the information.
Thanks,
Diana
I have a model 313, serial number 146528 NCR brass cash register that I am thinking about having restored. The top posts are bend in a bit with the glass and post caps missing. Everything below that is in good working order. First and foremost, is it worth repairing and secondly, where can I have it repaired. I’m looking for a reputable repairer near the Western New York area. Thank you.
